Bill Casey for Town and County Supervisor

Bill CaseyBILL CASEY has a proven record of leadership and service in our community and will bring a new brand of open leadership and visibility as Town and County Supervisor. He has over 20 years of volunteer service with CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services, including stints as Board President and the organization's Executive Director; eight years on the Shenendehowa School Board, including two years as its President; and current memberships on the Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home Board and the Advisory Board of the Saratoga Chamber's Leadership Saratoga program, as well as service as an Elder at his Grace Chapel in Jonesville.

Casey also has 35 years of public service in New York State government. He retired in 2003 as an Assistant Deputy Comptroller after having served at the Deputy Commissioner level of the NYS Office of General Services and as Executive Director of its multi-billion dollar Building Design and Construction program. He is a native of the Plattsburgh area, has a Political Science degree from the State University at Plattsburgh, and is celebrating his 40th wedding anniversary this spring with his high school sweetheart, Betty, a retired high school English teacher. They are residents of the Clifton Knolls neighborhood.

"I have been unbelievably blessed with opportunities to serve this community in so many ways, and hope to now move on to town and county government leadership to put all the local knowledge gained and skills acquired to work as Town and County Supervisor. I advocate a more open style of government, and a plan for a more equitable tax structure for Clifton Park. With the ever rising tax burden on our residents by state and local taxes, there needs to be an aggressive analysis of where tax money is spent and where it can be saved. Of critical importance, with the slumping economy and the resultant reduction in mortgage and sales tax revenues, our Town needs to re-evaluate its spending, not treating the "tax surplus" as money to be hoarded or unwisely spent."

"It's time for a change; the people of our Town no longer feel they are listened to and respected by our Supervisor and the Board. Our team will maximize citizen participation in developing a clear vision for Clifton Park for our future – one that advocates well thought out "green" initiatives and open space preservation, and a proactive, accessible and ethical leadership to ensure our cultural, farm and small business community needs are targeted – we especially need to collaborate with our schools, and civic and not-for-profit partners in developing the community we deserve and for which we long."

"We have all the tools we need to make Clifton Park a model community, one that invites and encourages citizen participation and one that doesn't allow it to become 'Wolf Road North.' I will bring the leadership and vision to help us figure out what we want to look like in ten years – our '2020 Vision' – and to help make it happen with maximum local citizen participation and collaboration with the schools and civic groups, as well as private businesses … all with strong fiscal stewardship."
